Estonian Cyber Security Experts Share Know-How With American Countries

Experts from the Estonian Information System Authority (RIA) will this week take part of the Regional Workshop on Cyber Security Policies organized by the Inter-American Development Bank, in collaboration with the Organization of American States (OAS).

Held in Washington, the event will facilitate the exchange of experience and technical knowledge on cyber policy issues between international experts and OAS member states.

Experts from Estonia will share their experience in managing cyber security emergencies and critical infrastructure protection and introduce the new national cyber security strategy, Liina Areng, RIA's Head of International Relations, told uudised.err.ee.

Toomas Vaks, director of cyber security and the head of the delegation, said that the growing dependence of critical infrastructures on information technology has created an array of cross-border risks, which cannot be managed without international cooperation.

"The United States of America is an important partner in security issues for Estonia. We are glad that the US, as a leading developer of information technologies, is showing interest in our experience with cyber security and gives us a chance to make a contribution to the development of cyber security in this region," he added.

The workshop also hosts delegations from Canada, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Spain, Korea and Israel.
