Danish hearing aid manufacturer moves part of its production to Estonia

The 6th largest hearing aid manufacturer Widex is planning to move part of its activities to Estonia and create hundreds of jobs.

The Danish company is currently looking for premises in Tallinn, and the exact number of jobs this move will create is still unknown. "We are trying to
find employees for the assembling process and maintenance work, where the share of handwork is high," Anders Westermann, executive vice president of
Widex, said.

In Estonia there is one company active in the same field – Tondi Elektroonika – which is selling hearing aids to Widex, among others.

Widex is at the same time consolidating production in Denmark, cutting its staff by 70 employees in its Helsinge factory. Westermann said that part of the Helsinge production will be moved to Belgium and part to Estonia. Widex has a total of 3000 employees.
