Estonian-born eye-tracking firm Realeyes received a 2.4 million euro investment by the Estonian Development Fund’s SmartCap and the UK-based Entrepreneurs Fund.

Dubbed “The Google of Emotions”, Realeyes measures facial expressions and quantifies people’s emotional reactions through standard video devices, such as webcams and in-store cameras. Its platform has already been used by world’s leading research firms, such as Nielsen, Ipsos and Toluna.

The investment enables Realeyes to advance its technology platform towards ‘Big Data’ applications. It also plans to quadruple its sales force internationally. The company’s main quarters are in London, but it has offices also in Tallinn, Minsk, Budapest and Boston.

Andrus Oks, Investment Manager at SmartCap, said that it was a very exciting and attractive investment opportunity as Realeyes represents the next generation of research.
