Barnes & Noble taps Fortumo to provide in-app payments for NOOK devices
Retailer Barnes & Noble Inc. is making it easier for NOOK users to buy digital goods through their e-readers. Its digital media and content subsidiary, NOOK Media LLC, has signed a deal with online payment processor Fortumo to provide in-app purchasing for games and apps offered on NOOK devices.
Through Fortumo services, app and game developers will be able to add payments to their digital wares, selling premium digital content seamlessly to NOOK customers in the NOOK Store. Fortumo also brings its one-click checkout process that lets customers pay for purchases with a single click after their first purchase. Fortumo's platform stores payment credentials so customers don't have to enter credit card information.
"We are thrilled to bring in-app purchasing to NOOK with Fortumo for our community of developers so they can foster a profitable relationship with their customers, while also providing our NOOK customers with a more in-depth app experience and an even wider selection of popular apps," said Claudia Romanini, VP of NOOK apps at NOOK Media.
