Construction material sector optimistic about exports

Estonia’s construction material sector has been so far focused on the domestic market, but its companies are finding more and more opportunities for exporting production, as noted by sector representatives at the recent association seminar.

The Association of Construction Material Producers of Estonia estimates that the turnover of construction materials will reach 408 million euros in 2013, which is about the same as the year before. It is slightly more compared to the booming year of 2005, but it is remarkable that the export level is considerably higher than it used to be — at a record level of 165 million euros.

Meelis Einstein, head of the association, said that nearby markets are important ones, and one has to closely follow the growth estimates for Nordic countries. A 6% growth in construction investment is expected in Norway and a substantial increase has also been seen in Finland in regard to renovation.
