2019164-small By production volume, food processing is the largest industry sector in Estonia, which constitutes the main field of activity for nearly 600 enterprises and the output of which forms nearly 30% of the output of the entire manufacturing industry. The production of the sector is mainly intended for the domestic market. The Estonian food processing industry is characterised by relatively high competitiveness and stability. Despite the strong pressure created by companies in neighbouring countries, our enterprises have been able to maintain their leading position at home and expand to export markets. The development of the sector has been facilitated by the investments made into innovation and efficiency in recent years.
